With recent changes to BIK for 2023 many businesses are considering a switch to electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The MINI electric benefits from the lowest amount of BIK liability - zero! If your business is not ready for the switch to full electric the Countryman PHEV comes in on the lowest banding of C02 emissions for calculating BIK liability. An overview of the bandings are below: 

For an electric vehicle made available for an employee’s private use during the years 2023 – 2025, the cash equivalent will be calculated based on the actual original market value (OMV) of the vehicle reduced by:

• €35,000 in respect of vehicles made available in the 2023 year of assessment;
• €20,000 in respect of vehicles made available in the 2024 year of assessment; and
• €10,000 in respect of vehicles made available in the 2025 year of assessment.

If the reduction reduces the OMV to Nil, a BIK charge will not arise. Any portion of OMV remaining, after the reduction is applied, is chargeable to benefit-in-kind at the prescribed rates which are detailed below.

Excess Kilometre Charges
Maximum Annual Kilometres: 15000 kilometres for each period of 12 months commencing from the date of this agreement. Maximum Total Kilometres for Period of Hire: 60000 kilometres (which shall be pro-rated for earlier termination). 

If the Annual Kilometres or Total Kilometres figures shown above are exceeded, an Excess Kilometres charge of €0.08 per kilometre will be incurred.
